SAKURA MANDARIN (PHILLY CHINATOWN)

Last Friday night, a friend texted me to go out and eat in (Philly) Chinatown. He wanted to give this, fairly new, Chinese/Japanese restaurant called Sakura a second try. It was my first time going there, by the way. There were five of us total that night. The restaurant didn't look too busy. There were several empty tables when we walked in. However, there was a big group of people (over 10) that arrived before us and there were only two waitstaff working that night for some reason.

As soon as we walked in, we were escorted to our table which was literally 2 feet away from where we were standing before. So we sat down and the waitress brought us tea. I was a little tired that night so I was in a daze for a few mins. After 5 minutes later, I had realized that the waitress didn't give us menus. So, we all agreed to be patient even though I was losing it by the second. And 20 mins later, the waitress came back and asked if we were ready to order. We were like, "WTF?" We told her that we didn't get a menu. At that point, I was ready to walk out...

So, after looking through the menu, we were ready to order. Another 20 mins later, the waitress came by to take our order. Three of us ordered sushi combos. That decision later became very regrettable for me, at least.

Ten mins after we all ordered our food, the appetizer came. I didn't have any since I dislike seafood (other than fish). So, by then, we all thought that our main dishes would come right after. Boy, were we all wrong... It, literally, took over an hour for them to start bringing our food to our table. The waitress didn't bring us all of our foods all at once either. Every 10-15 mins, each one of us would get our food. Of course, I was the last to get mine (20-30 mins after everybody else's).

Overall, we had spent over two hours at this restaurant. The food and service were mediaocre when comparing to other restaurants in the area. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. The only good thing about it is the cool green "Sakura" logo.
